At least once a year we take a trip out to Amish Country. Only this day was a little different. We decided that on our way out we would stop in North Canton to grab a cup of coffee and check out a new coffee location. After much debate we decided on Shale Craft Coffee. 

We must add that the parking is scarce and you need to pay attention to the businesses surrounding the coffee shop. They have signs up stating no parking for anyone other than their particular customers. Just when we were ready to give up we found a large parking lot across the way. There was nothing stating that we couldn't park there so that was a plus. 

This was a very busy location for a Saturday morning. We introduced ourselves and asked many questions. The staff was quite knowledgeable of their product. Even when we asked questions about their coffee roaster they were able to answer. The coffee roaster that they use is Deeper Roots Coffee out of Cincinnati. Their coffee was bold, but we noticed some bitterness. 


Bea ordered an iced Pumpkin Brûlée. The pumpkin was quite prominent. It was definitely a good drink. John ordered a hot Pumpkin Brûlée. Definitely tasted better hot over iced. It's something you would enjoy during the Autumn season. For this blog we brought our son, Robert along for the ride. He ordered an iced Buckeye Blitz. He stated that the "peanut butter was prominent and very good."  

What is morning coffee without some sort of bakery item. John got himself a PB-Pocalypse from Little Chunk of Goodness. Let's just say that the cookie was a little package of "Goodness."







For those customers on the go...don't fret! They have a drive thru which makes it easy on those that don't want to find parking and just want to get their coffee and run. 

Our next stop on our Saturday adventure was to Rebecca's Bistro in Walnut Creek, Ohio.

Every time we find ourselves in Walnut Creek we have to make a stop here. They have some of the best food around. One of Bea's all time favorite breakfast items comes from here. It is none other than their version of baked oatmeal. If you haven't had baked oatmeal, do yourself a favor and try it. Delicious!


The next location we stopped at was the famous Heini's Cheese Chalet in Millersburg, OH. After making a purchase of a few different cheeses we walked across the street, Kauffman's Country Bakery, to pick up another favorite item that not too many people have heard of or tried. It's definitely a favorite pie. The pie that we are talking about is Shoo-Fly Pie. 



As we start our journey towards home we have to make just a few more stops to make it complete. The next place is one of Bea's favorite places to go. John often has to keep bells on her so she doesn't get lost. The place I'm talking about is Tis the Season Christmas shop in Millersburg, OH. John always has her pick out an ornament for the year. This year we decided to do something a little different. Instead of picking out an ornament that Bea wanted, they would pick out one ornament for the entire family. We left with an adorable Christmas cactus.






Just before we reached the highway, to head home, we made one last stop at Breitenbach Wine Cellar. It's the only place that sells John's favorite wine. Dandelion Wine. 


All in all we had a wonderful Saturday adventure as a family. These are the memories that will always be cherished.

We knew that Mount Airy, North Carolina was close to where we were heading. A little coffee shop located downtown Mount Airy called Keepsmiling A'Latte. She grew up in the area many years prior to heading off to Colorado to marry the love of her life...John.
