After several weeks of being off due to other commitments, the Java Highway called out to us. This past weekend our journey landed us at Margaret's in Salem, Ohio. We heard about them recently opening a few months ago and wanted to give it some time for them to get settled in. 

There is some construction going on, but don't let that stop you from visiting Margaret's. Their parking lot is quite generous with plenty of spaces. 


The first thing we noticed is that they recently opened a drive thru, which makes it quite convenient for those that don't want to go inside. Walking through the doors of Margaret's we were met with two employees that were so kind and helpful. Since this was our first time visiting they gave us some suggestions, and wait until you hear what we decided on. 

Bea ordered an Iced Honey Bear Latte with Oat Milk. It was good, but the cinnamon overpowered the honey. When we come back an Iced Honey Bear Latte with Oat Milk will be ordered once again, but this time a hot one. John firmly believes that when drinks are ordered hot that it tends to bring out the base flavor a bit more. 

John ordered a Hot Maple Leaf Latte, there is only one word to describe it. DELICIOUS! If you enjoy the pure maple leaf candy that you find in the store then this would be the liquid equivalent to it. 

We also ordered a small dark roast from Deeper Roots Coffee in Cincinnati. The coffee was bold, but we did notice the bitter taste. 

They have a variety of bakery items for sale made by an employee. 


When you do go in to visit everyone at Margaret's be sure to ask about how the owner came up with the name for the coffee shop. It is a quite endearing story, one that warmed our hearts.

We knew that Mount Airy, North Carolina was close to where we were heading. A little coffee shop located downtown Mount Airy called Keepsmiling A'Latte. She grew up in the area many years prior to heading off to Colorado to marry the love of her life...John. We were coming in the area for a concert and wanted to grab some coffee prior to meeting up with the other party.  While looking for a coffee shop, Little Birdie Wine Nest caught our attention.
