Lily & Sparrow Mercantile

Lily & Sparrow Mercantile
1177 Reynolds St SW
Covington, GA 30014

Located in the, ever so, entertaining city of Covington, Georgia. Not only is Covington the home of many film productions, but it's the new home of Lily & Sparrow Mercantile. Before our journey began, we researched several locations in Georgia and this was one of the coffee shops that we wanted to stop at. We were quite impressed with their mission and how they included the community around them.

Their menu is limited, but what they have will give you the coffee fix you desire. Bea decided that an hot Honey and Lavender Latte was in order. When you took your first sip you were met with the sweetness from the honey with a lovely lavender taste to end it. The lavender was not overpowering, the barista made this drink perfectly. John decided that he was going to divulge in an iced Aero Cola Latte. This was something we were not used too and it peaked both of our interests. After taking the first sip John stated that "different and delicious."

We must add that we've noticed that some of the drinks we order are better when consumed hot. Especially, those with honey. Heat and honey are a great combination.

We were able to speak with the owner for a few moments and he shared how he includes the community with his business. They have several items for sale that local residents have put the sweat and tears into their work. They offer a few food items, and you have the opportunity to purchase some fresh produce as well.

The owner does roast his own beans, on site. He shared with us that he had just put a Bourbon Barrel Aged batch that he had completed. If anyone knows John, knows that he fancies his bourbon. So that peaked his interest and wouldn't you know that we ended up leaving with a bag. It must be said that if you leave your bag of coffee in a hot car that it will nicely fragrance your vehicle.

Since coming home we did try a pot of the bourbon barrel aged batch. We both had different reviews about it. Bea was not a fan, the taste was not very alluring. As for John he absolutely loved it. He said it was "spot on."
