What does one do on a nice day in October? Well for us it's to head to a local coffee shop to divulge in some delicious coffee. Through Facebook we kept seeing posts about different drinks and knew that we needed to stop there. Our son, a tattoo artist, works at a shop in the Warren area so this worked out perfectly for us. Plus, we've had several people recommend The Howland Bean.
When we arrived we noticed that it was quite a busy location. We were able to check out the menu and make our decisions before our turn at the counter. One thing we noticed was that they offered coffee flights. Since Halloween was right around the corner that was the option for us.
Bea chose the Serial Killer Coffee flight which consisted of four horror movie killers. These were chosen as an iced latte over hot. Below you will find how Bea rated her favorites with Michael coming in #1.
1. Michael (Pumpkin Pie Mocha with a butcher knife chocolate to top it off)
2. Jason (Toasted Marshmallow and Raspberry)
3. Pennywise (Candied Apple)
4.Freddy (Mocha with an extra shot of Espresso)
John took a different route and went with the Halloween selection. His drinks were served hot instead of the iced. Below you will find how John rated his favorites with the Zombie coming in #1.
1. Zombie (White chocolate and blue raspberry)
2. Witch (Butterscotch)
3. Mummy (White mocha)
4. Vampire (Red velvet)
Since it was morning time we needed to grab a bite to eat as well. Bea decided on a simple bacon, egg and cheese croissant. It was a good sandwich. John went big with The Godzilla (Sausage, cheese and egg between two waffles). They served Maple syrup with the sandwich and he states that the waffles were the highlight of it all. PERFECT sandwich to be exact!
NOTE: John left the egg off as he doesn't eat egg.
Before we left we were checking out some of their baked goods and decided on bringing a piece of their Pumpkin Spice Cheesecake home. That evening we shared the piece. John thought it was good, but Bea had a hard time getting past the chocolate. She's not a big fan of chocolate.
A couple things we need to add is that they were out of different items on their menu. Another thing we need to add is that there is plenty of parking whether you're traveling by car or motorcycle.
We enjoyed their drinks so much that we made a return visit. Through conversation with the owner she encouraged us to try their homemade nut roll that her mother makes. She guaranteed that we would enjoy it. It was good, but it wasn't Bea's Grandma's nut roll.
