LiB's Market

LiB's Market
474 E. State Street
Salem, OH 44460

Through a recommendation we made our way out to Salem, Ohio this past Saturday. It was a beautiful day, the sun was shining down sending us a lot of warmth. Arriving in town, you could tell that there was so much history and each place had a story to tell.
We found an area that had public parking. It was perfect for those that wanted to discover what Salem had to offer. Getting out of the car, we were met with a painting on the side of the building. A bold statement that showed this little town had heart.

Strolling down the street, we couldn't help but notice what a neat little town Salem appeared to be. Soon, John and Bea would find out for themselves just how hospitable the towns people treated outsiders.

We found LiB's Market a little ways up from where we parked our car. It's in the center of town. Entering through the door we noticed that there was writing on the side of the wall with a list of their products. Approaching the counter, we were greeted by Ben. He was the owner of LiB's Market and was ever so helpful in assisting us with our order. A few people came in after us, and he knew them by name. It was Salem's personal Cheers, "Where Everybody Knows Your Name" (Gary Portnoy & Judy Hart Angelo).

Bea ordered a Red Velvet Latte, it was strong and not overly sweet. It was quite delicious. One of the employees served Bea the flavorful, hot beverage in a sturdy coffee mug. There was a beautiful decoration on top. Coffee art takes talent, one that we would love to learn. We had the opportunity to speak with a few patrons that were enjoying their coffee and company. They shared with us some of the places we should look at visiting. You could tell that they adored their beloved Salem.

John ordered a small Ethiopian coffee. We can both report that it was bold, smooth and there was no sign of bitterness. One question we always ask, "do you roast your own coffee beans?" Ben did tell us that they do roast their own. With his coffee he wanted to try one of their ham and cheese pinwheels. It reminded him of a pepperoni roll with ham.

The staff was knowledgeable of their product. Any questions we had they were eager to answer. One thing that needs to be mentioned was that the establishment was very clean. Not only do they have coffee, tea, and bakery items but they do have small gifts that you can purchase along with LiB's Market clothing.

After we finished our coffee, Ben encouraged us to take a look around. He shared with us that there was an upstairs part to the coffee shop. We ventured off and made our way up those stairs. It was a whole different area where patrons could sit, play games, or it would be perfect to have a meeting.
