Caffé Driade

Caffé Driade
1215-A East Franklin Street
Chapel Hill, North Carolina 27514

This was our first time visiting Chapel Hill, NC. We decided to visit to see our friends of 30+ years. They stood by our sides during our wedding. Our friendship has always been held close and dear to us. Knowing we were going to be staying in Chapel Hill we decided that a stop at a local coffee shop was a must. This is where our adventure at Caffé Driade begins.

When driving down the road you need to pay attention or you will pass right by it. Once you pull into the drive you will see several parking spots. If for some reason they're all occupied, don't fret. Just follow the signs for additional parking.

When pulling in make sure that you go to the building in the back. The building closest to the street belongs to Carrboro Coffee Roasters. The coffee shop is located behind it. It sits back in the woods. The whole vibe of it is so relaxing, and a unique concept to be surrounded by nature while drinking coffee.

The coffee shop, itself, is a bit small inside. There are a few tables to sit at, but you don't want to sit inside when you can be sitting outside with nature. They are quite busy so you need to have an idea of what you want to drink/eat. We thought they had a good system to keep the foot traffic moving. You will order and then move outside through the back door where they bring you your drinks. This gives you an opportunity to check out some of the scenery while you grab a table.

This would be a perfect location if you wanted to take someone on a first date. They have quite a bit of privacy, and a trail for a walk.

After a long day of traveling we were wanting to get some coffee and a little bite to eat. The staff was helpful and answered any questions that were asked. One of the recommendations received was the Brown Sugar Oat Latte.  The drink was okay. Our one complaint with it was that the spices were a bit much. It took away from any coffee flavor. On the plus side it wasn't overly sweet.

Their house blend coffee was added. It had the aroma of honey, but the flavor was missing. It didn't have a burnt or bitter taste. It was good, but we were not fans of it.

For food...Bea ordered the Asiago Cheese Scone and John had the Ham and Cheese roll. Both of these were delicious.

The outdoor seating is what makes this coffee location unique and worth the visit. Sitting, listening to the birds sing as you enjoy your coffee. It's definitely worth a return visit.
